Thoughts on Recent Events

This was inspired by a friends bulletin on Myspace. the part in brackets is part of their post.

[When the people of the United States live a life above reproach, we will have leaders who are above reproach. When the people of the United States live like they care about orphans, widows, or aborted babies, we will have leaders who care about orphans, widows, and aborted babies.]

In our country the leadership reflects the people. If you are upset with the new leadership of our country, ask yourself why they got elected.

So, here is a question for you all
Do you think abortion, homosexuality, murder, fatherless children, orphans, poverty, sex trafficking, drug abuse, etc is good?

Think about this:

Imagine abortion clinics closing down, not because it has been made illegal, but because the mothers of unborn children value the lives of their children.

This is the world a little less broken

Imagine no same sex marriages, not because of legislature, but because each man and woman knows how they were designed and loved by God.

This is the world a little less broken.

Imagine orphans finding homes, and a family who loves them.

This is the world a little less broken.

Imagine fathers trusting God and not bailing on their families.

This is the world a little less broken.

Imagine the elimination of systemic poverty, because the world chooses to give and rehabilitate those on the streets and in the shacks.

This is ushering in the kingdom of heaven.

Imagine the end of sex trafficking, prostitution, drugs, gangs.

These things are all on God's heart.

We, as the people of God are responsible to do what we can. If you love God, love his people.

-"Of all the commandments, which is the most important"
"The most important one" answered Jesus, "is this: 'Hear O Israel, the Lord is one. Love the Lord your God with with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind, and with all your strength.' The second is this: 'Love your neighbor as yourself.' There is no commandment greater than these"
Mark 12:28-31

Martin Luther King Jr said we need to battle hate with love.

If we call ourselves Christians, and if we seriously concerned with seeing God's will done on earth as it is in heaven. Then is is our job to do something.

I challenge all of you to pray for our country. Not against our leaders, but pray that they will be men and women of God, and that they make good decisions for our country.

David never went against Saul, he supported him as much as he could.

God has a history of making great leaders out of less than perfect people.

Now, I may not agree with our new president's policies, but one thing we saw this week:
We saw America elect a person they thought would be the better leader of our country, despite his race, and family background.

And that in itself is the world a little less broken.
